I had a blast working on this project!

After weeks of hard work, I am proud to say that I have completed my foundation portfolio! I started with such little confidence and had no idea how successful I would turn out to be. I couldn't be happier of my final magazine. It took me super long to decide what I wanted to do, but it was surely worth the wait. Relatable was such an amazing concept, and I know that if it were to be a published magazine, it would gain enormous success. I have learned so much throughout this process such as editing skills, time management, and patience. I also  gained interest in the field, and may want to start a blog one day for something else.

I'd like to thank the following individuals with aiding me through this journey:
-Mrs. Marchetti, my teacher, for guiding me in the right direction at the start of the project.
-My two partners, Olivia and Hayley, for going through this experience beside me.
-Gabi, my model, for allowing me to take pictures of her for my spread.
-My family for coping with me as I needed silence in my house for an hour and a half as I filmed my CCR.

xoxo,
Madison Jakob

After I finished the cover page, I was ready to knock out the rest of the magazine. When I was taking pictures of Gabi, we took the cutest picture of her with a powdered donut. I had the idea to use the donut because  I felt as though the powder resembles snow. Along with the donut, she was also holding a coffee cup to add an aspect that a warm drink means that it's cold out. Because I loved this picture so much, I knew that I needed to use it. I thought that a great place for this would be on the page before the table of contents. I erased the background of the picture and placed it on a white background. I then added text over the picture foreshadowing one of the articles featured in the magazine. Going on to the table of contents, I wanted it to be simple, but to also grasp the Christmas elements. I placed a green text box at the top of the page with red writing to capture this. Underneath, I placed a list of the page number in a Christmas font and used a red swigged line as a border from the content of the pages. Now moving on to my two page spread: The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide. I wanted this to have a scrapbook feel, so I took several pictures of items and cropped out the background. I then placed them around the pages surrounded my text and smaller images. I was beyond happy with the result! After I finished, I created my CCR by using a voiceover while demonstrating on my laptop.

Can't believe I only have one more post left! :((

Now that I know what I'm going to do be focused on for my two-page spread, I can progress. Picture time! As I saidearlier, I will be takings pictures of my friend Gabi for the cover. Because it's the winter issue, I needed to supply accordingly to the theme. I headed over to her house after gathering the following: coats, scarves, gloves, hats, and more! Gabi tried on countless outfits until we agreed on a few which would be great for the spread. I had Gabi stand in front of a beige wall because I wanted a plain background. When I started to play around with the pictures in Joomag, it wasn't how I wanted. I ended up erasing the background of the pictures which made the images pop. For the cover, I ended up using a picture of Gabi and added a blue vignette border which conveyed to the winter aspect. Along the sides were a few neutral cover lines in various fonts. For the title of Relatable, we agreed to a clear black font to grasp the attention of individuals.
